I know people who have not read about Harry Potter [or any of his books] would ask me, what the hell does animagus and argus mean ? So, I shall start this blog with giving you the meanings for these words:

Animagus

An animagus is any witch or wizard who can change into an animal. All animagus are required by wizarding law to register their names, animals, and markings with the Improper Use of Magic Office.

Plural: Animagi (an-i-MAH-jye OR an-i-MAH-gee)

Known Animagi:

- Sirius Black : Dog
- James Potter : Stag
- Remus Lupin : Were Wolf (sort of animagus)
- Prof McGonagall : Tabby Cat
- Peter Pettigrew : Rat
- Rita Skeeter : Beetle

There are unregistered Animagi around, for example Rita Skeeter and Peter Pettigrew.

Argus

Argus was a Greek God who had a hundred eyes, and was therefore always on the lookout, since he never closed more than half his eyes while he slept. [Agrus Filch - Remember ?? ]
